Making M.A.R.K.S.

Motivating Adolescents to Receive Keys for Success

  • It takes a village to raise a child

The old proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child”, is not just something we say, but words we live by.

Motivating Adolescents to Receive Keys for Success (M.A.R.K.S) is a program with the goal of educating our youth in finance, life skills, trauma, post-secondary education, and more. We invite professionals and experts in these fields to speak with our youth, and then offer opportunities for them to put what they’ve learned into action. It is our hope to also assist parents in encouraging the goals and values for their children that would help them as they mature.

  • Sports

We host basketball activities for young men in the Austin community on Friday nights. This is a safe space to come engage in community with their peers and learn life skills they may want to acquire for the future and more. Snacks will also be provided.

  • Trauma Awareness

In this program, it’s our desire to help youth to grasp an understanding of vicarious trauma. They will identify areas where they may have had traumatic experiences and then process it in a safe space. We believe it is our responsibility to help youth walk through their experiences and assist them in identifying ways to overcome it while simultaneously empowering them to win in every area of their lives.
